Slime molds – the clever cousins of fungi (Part 1)
Share
When walking in the forest and looking for mushrooms, a more observant forest wanderer will probably also find tiny formations of the most peculiar colors and shapes. These are SLIME MOLDS, which are considered organisms similar to fungi. And although until quite recently they were thought to be fungi, it was eventually understood that this is not the case. So we can call them cousins of mushrooms. I always get excited when I stumble upon these tiny beauties on a damp log, which, upon closer inspection, always surprise me with their forms.
I invite you to explore the world of slime molds with me and watch the first part of the video about them, where you will learn more about their very interesting life cycle and how they communicate.
And for more interesting facts about slime molds - what they have in common with music, space, galaxies, and labyrinths - I invite you to watch the second part of the video about slime molds.
